Lyft Launches New Feature For Women and Non Binary Riders

Ok, we like this a lot! According to multiple media sources, the ride share app Lyft has rolled out a new service for women and non binary riders called “Women Plus Connect” that aims to match riders with a driver who also identifies as a a woman or non binary.

The new program will roll out in a handful of cities including Chicago, Phoenix, San Jose and San Francisco before becoming available to all riders. Lyft also mentioned that if none of the drivers preferred are in the area, the rider will still be paired with a male driver which is bound to happen at some point as over 75% of the drivers for Lyft are men.

While there have been several reports of incidents including women, non binary and LGBTQIA+ being harassed by drivers, we sincerely hope the “Women Plus Connect” program keeps a few more riders safe and provides everyone with some peace and mind.
